Q8.
What do I need to know to operate the lamps?
A1.
The fragrance fuel is a blend of fine essential oils and a precise amount of alcohol. The oils provide the aroma desired and the alcohol provides the mechanism for delivering the pure fragrance. The blend is wicked from the decorative container to the ceramic burner. A catalytic agent is embedded in the porous ceramic burner. To start operating, the ceramic burner is lit and allowed to burn until the catalyst is warm enough to sustain a reaction with the alcohol. This reaction provides enough heat to sustain a reaction after the flame is extinguished and will continue until the fuel is consumed.
A2.
Yes! As the catalytic reaction occurs, heat is created, air is warmed and warm air rises. The warn air is constantly replaced with air from the room. The ambient air may contain undesirable odors. The odor molecules are converted to neutral byproducts as they are consumed in the catalytic burner, thus the undesirable odors are replaced with the pleasant aroma of your choice.
A3.
The temperature of the reaction is too low to sustain a flame and considerably below the temperature of a candle. Of course anything can be unsafe if care is not taken. During the warm up period (open flame) you should be especially carefully to avoid spills. The alcohol is not fit for human consumption and as always it must be keep away from children.
A4.
In some ways it becomes a personal choice or preference. Some of the advantages of the catalytic lamps are:
Reaction without flame, avoiding smoke and soot.
No ashes.
Destroy odors and bacteria.
Can be an interesting conversation piece or even a collectible.
Can be complimentary with your décor.
A5.
Of course….., but you can use other reputable brands.
A6.
Yes.
A7.
Basically yes. There is considerably less alcohol in the spray.
A8.
To operate the lamps, please follow the instructions below:
Pour the desired amount of Fragrance Fuel into the lamp. The lamp will consume about one ounce every hour, so if you desire two hours of operation, use two ounces of fragrance fuel.
Insert wick and ceramic burner.
Wait approximately two minutes for the fuel to wick up into the ceramic burner. The ceramic burner will appear wet when ready.
Set the lamp on a firm, secure foundation away from any flammable material, kids, or animals. Light the burner and let it burn for two minutes and blow it out.
Place the diffuser (cap with holes) over the burner. You can now place the lamp in the area you desire away from kids and animals.
To terminate operations, we recommend you allow the lamp to operate until the fuel is exhausted. This keeps the ceramic burner from becoming saturated with oils. For a quick termination, remove the diffuser (it will be hot so use some safe material such as a hot pad) and place the solid cap over the burner.
